Again with THAT VOICE! Plus, acoustic shows rock!
After rehearsal yesterday we hopped in the van down to Jones Beach Theatre to see Chris Cornell and his band. Woo hoo! Never pass up a chance to see that voice in action. We heard an interview with him on the radio talking about the new album he’s releasing later this year, and he played a new song from said album-- sounded a lot different than the rock stuff, and his voice really gets to soar. I think it’s always a good thing to mix it up and stray out of the comfort zone-- keeps things exciting for an artist…
Matt and I performed an acoustic duo show this past Monday-- reminded me of the old days when we were first starting out in NYC. It’s a lot of fun, though also a little raw, to get to play songs acoustic that we’ve been rocking electric for so long. It’s also really satisfying to work on getting the vocals in really good shape, and an acoustic show where they’re front and center is always good incentive! We have another show booked this coming Monday at the Living Room (FREE!) at 9pm, and we’ll be doing quite a few acoustic shows, adding Ricc in (with his softer side!) as we go along. We’ll be playing re-worked EG songs from Soft Targets, songs from my rock opera “Bulgaria”, obscure/quirky covers, and brand new tunes we’ve been working on for the next record, so come on out-- we’ll keep you posted!
And remember you can catch us at the All Points West Festival on August 10! Looks like it’ll be one heckuva time for the festies!
